New Year in Wales - 2011

Another great time was had by the lucky 11 members of SALE FOLK CLUB who went down to Betws-y-Coed and stayed in the converted Catholic Church, not much call for Catholicism in Wales, for a self-catering New Year. Joan, Jackie, Terry, Kate, Rob, Elizabeth & Robin, Sue & Ed and Heather & Don were joined for all activities by Heather & Derrick from a neighbouring B&B.

Elizabeth & Robin first entertained us with a lovely Soup starter followed by Salmon en croute dinner and Rob's apple pie and much singing and general craic later we fell into bed.

The Frodsham Walk

This was a very successful occasion when 18 all-weather walkers took to the trail to the Frodsham War Memorial Monument and on the way raised £65 for the Hospice Of The Good Shepherd in return for the hospitality of Tina & Tom half way along. Afterwards in the Bear's Paw there was fine food and even finer music and song from Ed, Eddie, Jean, John, Mark, Jan, Don and Heather.

Canal Boat Trip No 2 - 9 October 2011

Two boats sailed from Stockton Heath Marina to The Old No 3 on a bright morning with 24 people on board. The pub was easily achieved by 12.00 noon when the tap was invaded and conquered, food and drinks were ordered and instruments taken up by Mark & Jan, Robin, Isobel, Karen, Rob, Don & Heather and John Condy for a boisterous singalong session.

Afterwards, a rather wet return journey failed to dampen spirits as the songs swelled from within the cabin leaving everyone reluctant to leave for The London Bridge pub for well earned sustenance.
