SATURDAY 2 April 2011
ALLAN TAYLOR
Internationally famous Singer Songwriter
http://www.allantaylor.com

Allan writes many traveller's songs about his journey, real, fictitious or metaphorical and again and again the expression 'on the road' crops up. His songs and the voice are like the red wine that keeps getting mentioned and they are of astonishing maturity.

Allan Taylor always delivers masterpieces of song writing. Many other famous artists obviously think so and his songs have been recorded by such as Jez Lowe, Tom McConville, The Clancys, The Fureys, Barbara Dickson, Max Boyce, Alex Campbell, The Poozies, De Dannan, John Wright, Flossie and to cap it all Don Williams and Nana Mouskouri took It's good To See You Platinum Discs in the USA and Worldwide. It doesn't get any better then that.

And Allan did all that and more in a sublime evening which started with us marvelling at his singing and guitar work but ended with us revelling in his amazing songwriting, brilliantly observed, incredibly creative and beautifully crafted. With the exception of Banjo Man and It's Good To See You, the old favourites took a back seat and we were treated to his more recent work and it was true to say that this man gets better and better. Roll on the day when he returns to Sale Folk Club.
